Abortion is not publicly funded

Abortion is not publicly funded
Christian News Network

I want to make this unequivocally clear: there is NO SUCH THING as a publicly-funded abortion in the US or any US territory. Most Americans aren't familiar with it, but the 1977 Hyde Amendment is the federal law that originally prohibited only Medicaid from covering abortions. It's been attached to each and every budget the House has passed since it was enacted, and they plan to pass it in perpetuity, regardless which political party has the majority in the House. Over the years, its scope has been broadened to affect federal employees and Native American women. If this woman was intimating that the Affordable Care Act permits publicly-funded abortions, in a word, she's WRONG. In fact, it reinforces the Hyde Amendment. The ACA does not change any law concerning government coverage of abortion, and anyone's statements to the contrary are utter and complete lies.
