Bergman supports proposed late-term abortion ban

The measure, H.R. 36, also is known as the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. If it becomes law, performing or attempting an abortion in violation of it could result in five yearsâ imprisonment. Mothers who receive a late-term abortion could not be prosecuted, according to the Associated Press.The House passed the bill with a 237-189 vote earlier this month, largely along party lines. Three Democrats voted yes, and two Republicans were opposed to the measure, according to the Associated Press.âH.R.36 is a great step towards protecting the sanctity and value of every life. As a Marine, I have always worked to protect those who are unable to defend themselves, and as your representative in Washington, D.C., I will continue my effort to protect and defend all life,â Bergman said in a statement.
