I thought the April 9 commentary from Gene Lucas might add some perspective to the abortion debate [Altruism: A different focus on abortion]. It did not. It caught my attention when it mentioned focusing on the main problem: the unwanted pregnancy. After that is was just pro-abortion talking points.The only reason abortion is an issue at all is that as a society we have no will. There is no need for unwanted pregnancies. Pregnancy is talked about as if itâs a newly discovered condition. Men spoken of not at all or as the villain in the whole situation. Women are spoken of in mystical tones granted domain over their bodies and choices that are their right.The facts are simple. Having sex does not have to create a pregnancy. Birth control is readily available and in many instances is free.
