ThinkProgress

Abortion advocates and protesters crossed verbal swords Wednesday in front of City Hall during a spirited exchange of brief arguments aimed at the other's beliefs. Claiming Kentucky is "ground zero in the abortion wars," the anti-abortion groups Operation Save America and Created Equal held a five-hour protest, complete with big-screen showings of abortion videos in the shadow of City Hall.Pro-abortion rights advocates also came out in full force, obscuring anti-abortion signs with bouquets of colorful helium-filled balloons and drowning out hymns with pop songs such as Beyonce's "Formation."The anti-abortion video, though, sparked much discussion as hundreds witnessed the protests. Horrific, extreme, gross and ridiculous. That's what some passers-by thought of the graphic signs and videos of bloody fetuses that anti-abortion advocates brought as part of a weeklong national event aimed at shutting down Kentucky's last abortion clinic.
