THE PEOPLE SPEAK: Abortion bill waste of time, state's money

Sir, the U.S. Constitution makes it clear federal law takes precedence over state law. That is why every time the Oklahoma Legislature passes an abortion law, attempting to thumb its nose at the national government, it immediately gets an injunction against it and after spending scant Oklahoma resources for a few years is found unconstitutional. Remember the anti-Sharia law that was passed in 2013, our state spent the money to litigate this for three years and it was found unconstitutional. What a waste of money. Mr. Faught, you and your Republican peers are adding to our state deficit. Why arenât you authoring a bill to help our stateâs financial mess or a plan to reduce turnpike fees? Probably because any kind of anti-abortion law is much more effective for re-election than the hard, roll-up-your-sleeves work it takes to fix our budget.
