Letting states strip federal grants from clinics will make it harder for poor women to get reliable birth control, though, leading to more unwanted pregnancies -- and, yes, abortions.N.J. women, Zika and rape victims will pay for Trump's 'abortion' cuts | Editorial But this is about so much more than abortion. It's doing tangible harm to women's health, causing horrible effects, and it's no longer just a theoretical debate. The results on the ground are sickening. After Gov. Christie cut all state funding for family planning in 2010, New Jersey saw a spike in gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, breast and cervical cancer cases, and tens of thousands of women are no longer getting treatment. With STDs on the rise nationally, the very least we can do is make screenings more available.
